How to Examine a Vertical Alignment of the Informational / Explanatory Writing Standard

A Triple Vision Talk Activity is an in-depth look at three vertical standards.  For example, a teacher in the fourth grade studies the third grade standards and the fifth grade standards in order to insure that the complexity and the rigor in the fourth grade units continue the incremental sophistication of skills in the curriculum. The following Triple Talk represents a “think aloud” for teachers carefully demonstrating how to examine the vertical alignment of skill development.
